About Me

I have a passion for understanding sleep, including sleep hygiene, familial sleep practices, and the impact that culture and community have on the formation of sleep habits. As a parent, I have experienced the impact sleep deprivation has on daily functioning, mental well-being and the ability to be a productive person.

Education

After graduating from St. Olaf College, I worked as an in-home autism behavior therapist in Minneapolis and Milwaukee. I went on to complete a master’s in Educational Psychology and an Education Specialist Degree at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and then worked in the public schools as a school psychologist in Milwaukee and Chicago.

Seeking to learn more about behavioral and relationship challenges from an infant mental health and early childhood developmental perspective, and to explore the role of culture and context in development, I completed my PhD in Child Development at the Erikson Institute in Chicago.

After moving back to Madison, I worked as a Child Development Specialist in the Department of Psychiatry at the UW School of Medicine and Public Health. In addition to various research projects pertaining to families in the postpartum period, my primary role was to support area childcare centers as a member of the Infant-Early Childhood Mental Health Consultation Team. I have completed the University of Wisconsin Infant, Early Childhood, and Family Mental Health Capstone Certificate Program and am also a Certified Lactation Counselor.

Development, temperament and personality are fundamentally intertwined with how sleep patterns emerge.

I've been a sleepless parent.
It stinks.

As a parent, I have experienced the drag of sleep deprivation. This has greatly influenced my desire to work with families who struggle with sleep and feel confused or overwhelmed by the information that exists related to managing sleep difficulties.

I began training with Dr. Angelique Millette after utilizing her services to support our family’s own unique set of sleep challenges. Her approach aligned with my background and appreciation of infant / child, familial and cultural contributions to sleep.

Parenthood

For any family, the initial transition to parenthood is challenging and often overwhelming. After benefiting from the Millette Method™, I was eager to help other families reclaim their sleep. I would be delighted to work with you and your family to achieve your sleep-related goals. Please visit my services page for details.
